Bella & The Bourbon Boys Most Frequently Asked Questions

Below are all of the questions we could remember having been asked in the past. If you have a question that's not on here, please feel free to email bellabourbonboys@alivenetwork.com or call our agent, Graham Woodcock, on 01782 381651.

How much space do you need?

We need about 4m by 3m to perform comfortably, although can fit into smaller spaces if necessary.

How is it best to time things?

We find it’s best to have our sets starting at about 8.30pm and 10pm, although we can be flexible to suit your needs.

Can I pick the bands playlist?

We’ve worked hard to select great music that will entertain people of all ages. We usually find that it’s best to let us worry about the music we’re going to perform, and leave you to have a great party!

Where will you travel to?

We will travel anywhere in the UK and internationally, although we would expect accommodation for 5 people to provided if travelling more than 150 miles from London.

Can I see you play live?

As we are a professional working band, the vast majority of our events are at private weddings and functions. Therefore it’s usually not possible to come and see us live – but the videos and demo tracks on the website are recorded live, so they will give you an excellent idea of what we sound like in person.

Will you learn our special song?

Usually, yes! It all depends on what the song is, so let us know as soon as possible and we will see what we can do. We can also discuss if you want us to give the song a vintage twist, or just cover the original version.

Is the video on your website a true reflection of the band?

Yes! Our videos are recorded completely live – there is no overdubbing or editing, and the band will sound exactly in the same at your event;.

How do I book you?

Bella and the Bourbon Boys are exclusively available through Alive Network.

Are you able to DJ in between sets?

We provide a cable for you to plug a laptop, iPod or iPad into our mixing desk between sets – this gives you complete control over the music when we are not performing.

Can we use your sound system for speeches?

Usually this is fine, but please note that we don’t use a wireless microphone – so speeches will have to be delivered from the stage, behind our speakers (otherwise you might get feedback).

What equipment do you use?

We use top quality PA equipment from Yamaha and Mackie, suitable for audiences of up to 250 people. Larger PA systems are be available on request.

Do you have lights?

Yes, we bring some spotlights to illuminate the band whilst performing.

How long do you play for?

We usually perform 2 x 60 minute sets, although longer performances may be available on request.

What time do you start and finish?

Generally speaking we would perform our two sets between 8pm and midnight. However if your timings are different just let us know and we’ll talk through the options.

How long do you take to set up?

Setting up takes about an hour, but it’s best to assume it’ll take 90 minutes in case access to the venue space is difficult etc.

Can I provisionally book you?

We are not in a position to take provisional bookings, however we are usually happy to hold a date for a couple of days while you make a decision.

What if the band split up before my event?

Like many professional party bands, our work is our livelihood and so we take our commitments very seriously.

In the very unlikely event that the band had split up before your party, every effort would be made to find a suitable replacement band.

Can my sisters/bosses/daughters dog sing with your band?

As long as it is arranged in advance and we know the song, this would usually be fine.

What will the band wear?

The band dress in a 1920s style, with the gentlemen in dinner jackets and bow ties and Bella in an appropriate dress – see our pictures and videos to get an idea of our style!

Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?

Yes, please ask for copies of these if needed.

Why should I book Bella and the Bourbon Boys?

Bella and the Bourbon Boys are a band with a difference – a jazz quintet performing solely vintage covers of modern pop songs. Hardly any bands specialise in doing this and we think it makes us really stand out, giving a performance that your guests will be talking about for years.

How much does it cost to book the band?

Please click here for a quote.

Can we see some previous client testimonials?

Yes – you can see our reviews here.

Do Bella And The Bourbon Boys have any specific requirements?

We require a green room that we can use before we perform as a changing room, and also to retire to between sets so we can rest. We also require a hot meal for each band member, along with soft drinks throughout the evening.

What type/size venues are you able to play at?

We can play at any size of venue, from small intimate receptions to corporate events with 1000+ guests. However, if you have more than 250 people at your event it’s important to let us know in advance so that we can arrange for a larger PA system than we provide as standard.

How loud will the band be?

Bella and the Bourbon Boys is not a loud band, and can comfortably perform in venues with noise limiters set at 85dB and above.

What is the band power requirement?

We require two domestic (13 amp) sockets close to the performance space. If you’re in a temporary marquee, we strongly encourage you to hire a generator and don’t rely on running extension cables from a house!

Do Bella and the Bourbon Boys offer any additional services?

Yes! We can provide classical or contemporary music for your wedding reception, and background jazz music throughout dinner and drinks receptions.
